Komsomolskaya Pravda discussed the prospects for tourism between Russia and Africa.
A roundtable discussion organized by the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper was held by the Vostok Discussion Club, dedicated to cultural and business cooperation between Russia and the African continent. One of the key aspects of the discussion was tourism as a tool for strengthening mutual understanding and expanding economic opportunities.
The Importance of Cultural Exchange Odunlami Serge Phocas, President of the autonomous non-profit organization "House of Africa," emphasized the importance of cultural exchange for building long-term relationships. He emphasized the need to actively promote Russia's tourism potential among Africans, emphasizing the unique natural resources and cultural characteristics of our country.
"Tourism is not simply an introduction to exotic places; it is a path to developing a deep understanding of each other," Odunlami Serge Phocasstated. He also expressed confidence that such contacts can lay a solid foundation for the development of further business contacts and partnerships. Market Prospects Yulia Maksutova, Deputy General Director of the Center for Strategic Research Foundation, emphasized that Africa represents a significant and still under-explored market for Russian tourism. She noted the growing interest in Russian destinations among citizens of several African countries, who enjoy visa-free entry to Russia.
Despite a 60% increase in travel from Africa to Russia in recent years, the overall volume remains relatively low—only approximately 37,000 trips annually. However, this potential appears to be enormous, especially given the historically established friendly relations, including the widespread popularity of Russian education among African youth.
To realize these potentials, the "Discover Russia" brand is planned to attract more African visitors and introduce them to the uniqueness of Russia's regions, beyond the popular cities of Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Kazan.
Conclusion The event participants agreed that actively promoting the tourist appeal of both sides will be a key factor in successful economic cooperation. Regular visits and personal connections will allow for a better understanding of each other's capabilities and lay the foundation for the sustainable growth of bilateral relations.
