On April 24, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with the heads of Russian non-profit organizations in Moscow. The event, which brought together approximately 150 representatives of federal and regional NGOs, was attended by Serge Phocas, President of the ANO "House of Africa."
The meeting included an exchange of experiences and a discussion of NGO plans for international action. Particular attention was paid to the development of public diplomacy, the preservation of historical memory, the popularization of the Russian language and culture, and the monitoring of electoral processes in Russia and abroad.
The discussion focused on the role of the non-governmental sector and the scientific and academic community in multilateral dialogue formats, as well as the youth dimension of public diplomacy.
Civil society representatives proposed a number of promising initiatives aimed at more actively engaging NGO organizations in strengthening Russia's position as an independent center of global politics. The meeting participants expressed support for further expanding cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the implementation of international projects.
